Guilin Old Town Tour / 4 days
A lot of people know Guilin to be a marvelous city for its natural beauty, but this trip will show you another mysterious Guilin by several old towns. Certainly you will not miss the nature beautiful nature scenery.
The following itinerary and quotation is still available in 2010.
Day 1: Guilin Arrival
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.
Day 2: Gulin – Daxu – Yangshuo: Meal(s) (B+L)
Sightseeing: Daxu Ancient Town / Gudong Waterfall Groups / Crown Cave
In the morning you set out on a short drive to visit Daxu Ancient Town. Having a history of more than 1000 years, the town was originally formed in the early Northern Song Dynasty (960-1126) and was the leader of four renowned ancient towns in Guangxi Province as early as 600 years ago. Afterwards, you will pay a visit to the Gudong Waterfall Groups, which is the only waterfall group formed by underground water (springs) in China and also located in a forested scenic area. After lunch, you proceed to visit the Crown Cave. The cave extends 12km, but only the 3km nearest the river has been explored to any large extent. Stalagmites abound inside the cave making grotesque and imposing shapes that lead people into a fairyland.
In the mid-afternoon, you head to Yangshuo County, which has a reputation as a foreigners' village in Southern China. Yangshuo is also a great place to base yourself for a relaxing few days of exploring the karst scenery and rivers, checking out caves, local temples, or just taking it easy in one of the many cafes and bars.
Day 3: Yangshuo – Xingping – Fuli – Yangshuo: Meal(s) (B+L)
Sightseeing: Xingping Village / Ancient Town of Fuli
After breakfast, you will take a short drive to Xingping Village and have about one hour and half cruise to enjoy the best view part of Li River. Water buffalo roam the fields, peasant farmers tend rice paddies, school children and fishermen float by on bamboo rafts. With its breathtaking scenery and taste of a life far removed from the concrete metropolis, the scenery along the Li River has become one of China's top tourist destinations. After lunch, visit the Ancient Town of Fuli, which has a history dating back 800 years. Here you can find small factories making painted paper fans. The barber shop and a small local Chinese pharmacy all have some special stories to tell.
You will stay in Yangnshuo this evening.
Day 4: Yangshuo – Next destination: Meal(s) (B+L)
Enjoy your free time until your transfer to the airport for departure to your next destination.
