Itinerary
Day 1: Guilin Arrival
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.
Day 2: Gulin – Daxu – Caoping Meal(s) (B+L)
Sightseeing: Daxu Ancient Town / Caping Village
In the morning you set out on a short drive to Daxu Ancient Town to visit 300-year-old wooden houses inhabited by fishing villagers. Having a history of more than 1000 years, the town was originally formed in the early Northern Song Dynasty (960-1126) and was the leader of four renowned ancient towns in Guangxi Province as early as 600 years ago. Lunch is served at a farmer's home on Maozhou Island. Afterwards, drive to Caoping Village. Your homestay tonight is at Foggy Resort.
Day 3: Caoping – Yangdi Meal(s) (B+L)
Sightseeing: Crown Cave / Yangdi Village
Your morning tour features the Crown Cave. The cave extends 12km, but only the 3km nearest the river has been explored to any large extent. Stalagmites abound inside the cave making grotesque and imposing shapes that lead people into a fairyland. For lunch you'll sample some delicious country fare in a local restaurant. Afterwards, start your hiking tour to Yangdi Village along the Li River. Yangdi Village is an ideal place to enjoy the misty rain of the Li River. The village in the rain seems a wonderland, quiet, peaceful and mysterious. After 4-5 hours hiking, arrive at the trail end in Yangdi Village and stay overnight there.
Day 04: Yangdi – Xingping – Yangshuo Meal (s) (B+L)
Sightseeing: Xingping Village
Get up early and continue hiking from Yangdi Village to Xingping Village, which is the highlight of the hiking tour. The hiking lets you experience the Li River from a different perspective and soak in the peacefulness and dramatic mountain scenery: Water Buffalo grazing beside the river and fishermen on their bamboo rafts catching fish with cormorants. After 5-6 hours hiking, get to the trail end in Xingping Village which is also an old town with history of over 800 years. Then drive about 40 minutes to Yangshuo. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the famous countryside.
Day 5: Yangshuo – Next destination Meal(s) (B+L)
Sightseeing: Banyan Tree / Moon Hill
Today, you can take a ride by bicycle to explore the villages around Yangshuo, including Banyan Tree and Moon Hill. You can experience the typical Chinese farmer's life and the big changes that have happened in China in the past 15 years.
After lunch, transfer to Guilin Airport for departure.
