Itinerary
Day 1: Lijiang Arrival (L)
Sightseeing: Black Dragon Pool / Dongba Cultural Museum / Old Town of Lijiang
Welcome to Lijiang. Upon you arrival, you will be met by our tour guide and visit Black Dragon Pool. With an area of 40 hectares (over 430,000 sqft), and it provides a haven for bird and water-life, with spectacular plants. Afterwards, you will pay a visit to Dongba Cultural Museum, the best place to get a close look at Dongba culture. In the mid-afternoon, visit Old Town of Lijiang, a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture. The Lijiang Old Town is built along the lie of mountains and the flow of rivers, providing a very precious sample of the research on the old-time architecture.
Day 2: Lijiang (B+L)
Sightseeing: Yuhu Village / Dr. Joseph Rock / Baisha Mural / Yufeng Temple
You spend today on the site of the Yuhu Village, a simple village of Naxi minority with the former residence of Dr. Joseph Rock, an Austro-American botanist and explorer who lived here off and on from 1922-1949. Your next stop is Baisha Village to visit Baisha Mural. Baisha Mural displayed the different religious cultures and arts forms from Buddhism, Lamaism, Daoism and the Naxi Dongba religion. Afterwards, you will visit Yufeng Temple, one of the Scarlet Sect lamaseries of Lijiang.
Day 3: Lijiang (B+L)
Sightseeing: Spruce Plateau / Jade Dragon Snow Mountain/ Mu's Residence
You will spend a little more time exploring the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and surrounding areas this morning. You will take the cable car to Spruce Plateau and overlook the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain now is a famous scenic spot for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, exploration, scientific research and taking holiday. Afterwards, you will visit Mu's Residence reflects the architectural style of the central plains of China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its layout is arranged according to the pattern of the Forbidden City.
Day 4: Lijiang (B+L)
Sightseeing: Tiger Leaping Gorge / the First Bend of the Yangtze River
Get up early in the morning and drive about 100km to Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is believed to be the deepest gorge in the world. From the top of the gorge you look down the steeply angled mountain sides to the rushing Golden Sands (Jingsha) River with its 18 frothing rapids more than 200 meters below. Afterwards, you will also visit the First Bend of the Yangtze River. It is where the Yangtze River, following a northwest course, plunges head-on into a high and cragged cliff, takes a sharp U-turn-believed to be the first bend as it flows on and changes its course in a northeast direction.
Day 5: Lijiang – Next Destination (B+L)
The morning is left free for us to explore the ancient town before take flight to next destination.
