This 5-day Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking tour is designed as strenuous trekking. Average daily trekking time will be about 5-7 hours. The splendor of a 3-day-long hiking along the Tiger Leaping Gorge will bring you a different experience and a closer contact with the nature.
The following itinerary and quotation is still available in 2009.

Itinerary

Day 1: Lijiang Arrival
Welcome to China. Upon arrival, our local guide will take you to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

Day 2: Lijiang - Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: Qiaotou Town / Tiger Leaping Gorge
Get up early in the morning and drive about 2 hours to Qiaotou Town, where is the upper region of Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is believed to be the deepest gorge in the world. From the top of the gorge you look down the steeply angled mountain sides to the rushing Golden Sands (Jingsha) River with its 18 frothing rapids more than 200 meters below. Your hiking trip begins from here. The total trekking route is 28 km, and it takes approximately 6 hours.
When night falls, we will arrive at the hostel, and today's trekking is end.

Day 3: Tiger Leaping Gorge (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: Tiger Leaping Gorge / Jinsha River
Get up early and continue trekking to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. After lunch, you will walk down the steep cliff to the bank of Jinsha River. With a length of 2290km, Jinsha River is the most precipitous section of Yangtze River, which makes a sudden turn of 135 degrees to flow northeastward. Then you go on climbing up the Tiger Leaping Gorge for approximately one hour.

Day 4: Tiger Leaping Gorge - Lijiang (B+L)
Sightseeing: Daju Town / Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
Today we continue trekking for 2 km and cross the Jinsha River by boat to get to Daju Town. It is a region of stark beauty amidst nature's hugeness. After lunch, you will return to Lijiang. On the way, you pay a visit to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You will take the cable car to Spruce Plateau and overlook the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain now is a famous scenic spot for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, exploration, scientific research and taking holiday.

Day 5: Lijiang - Next Destination (B+L)
Sightseeing: Baisha Village / Baisha Mural / Lijiang Old Town
Starting the day later than usual, you will go to Baisha Village to visit Baisha Mural. Baisha Mural displayed the different religious cultures and arts forms from Buddhism, Lamaism, Daoism and the Naxi Dongba religion. After lunch, we will stroll along the Ancient Town of Lijiang, a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture. The Lijiang Old Town is built along the lie of mountains and the flow of rivers, providing a very precious sample of the research on the old-time architecture. In the late afternoon, you will take flight to next destination.
