Itinerary
Day 1 Taiyuan Arrival (B)
Sightseeing: Jinci Temple
Greetings and begin your journey to Jinci Temple directly. Jinci Temple is a combination of historical cultural relics and beautiful landscapes. There are three additional wonders that draw people from across the world to the temple. These are: The Figures of The Maidservants, the Zhou Cypress and the Never Aging Spring.
Day 2: Taiyuan – Pingyao by private van (B+L)
Sightseeing: Twin Pogoda Temple / Qiao's Compoun / Pingyao Ancient Town
Today you will experience the Twin Pogoda Temple, which were built under the Emperor Wanli's order in 1608 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Each of the pagodas has 13 stories and is made entirely of bricks and stone. After lunch, drive to Pingyao and visit Qiao's Compound. Qiao's Compound is marvelous example of the architecture of the Qing dynasty in Taiyuan. The plant occupied 8,724.8 square meters of land, consisting of 6 large yards and 20 small yards with 313 houses in total. Then you continue to visit Pingyao Ancient Town. In 1997, when it was declared a World Cultural Heritage site for its Old City, Pingyao gradually opened up to the outside world and more and more people have come to have a look at this old city representing the prosperous past of Shanxi during the Ming and Qing eras.
Day 3 Pingyao – Next Destination (B+L)
Sightseeing: Pingyao City Wall / Rishengchang Draft Bank / Ancient Ming and Qing Streets
You will start the day with a visit to Pingyao City Wall, one of the four wholly-protected ancient cities in China. With a total length of six kilometers, the city wall is about 12 meters tall and 3 to 6 meters wide on top. Afterwards, visit the Rishengchang Draft Bank, one of the earliest exchange shops in China. After lunch, you will stroll along the Ancient Ming and Qing Streets.
All the shops along both sides of the street were all built with bricks and stones completely in the style of Ming and Qing architecture, which are all the prototypes of the ancient buildings and quite different from the imitation works now. In the late afternoon, you will take train to next destination.
