Day 1 Tue 21-Jul-09 Meal(s) Arrival in Shanghai
Sightseeing: the Bund/ Nanjing Road.
Our guide will pick you up at Shanghai airport and transfer you to your hotel. Visit the Bund, the former foreign settlement, ranged along with imposing buildings of the colonial period, and Nanjing Road which is the busiest shopping street in Shanghai.
Day 2 Wed 22-Jul-09 Meal(s) (B+L) Shanghai
Sightseeing: Solar eclipse viewing /Shanghai Museum/ Yuyuan Garden/ Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
Following an early breakfast we will depart for the eclipse viewing site which will be announced in the morning. Depending on the weather we will travel to the east or west of Jiaxing and this decision will be made in real time. We will locate our site in this zone where up to 5m 52s of totality can be seen. Then you will visit Shanghai Museum which is the biggest museum in China, with a collection of over 120,000 pieces of Chinese art & cultural relics. Then you transfer to Yu Garden. It is characteristic of the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty and it used to be a private garden with 400 years' history. In front of the garden, there is a market called Yu Market. After lunch you will visit the Oriental Pearl TV Tower Standing by the Huangpu River at 468 meters high, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the highest TV Tower in Asia.

Shanghai – Hangzhou by train
Sightseeing: Jade Buddha Temple/ Six Harmonies Pagoda
Visit the Jade Buddha Temple, which is one of the main tourist highlights in Shanghai and also one of the most active temples in China. If you're lucky, you can watch the monks conducting a ceremony in a side room. Take a soft seat train to Hangzhou and transfer to the hotel. Visit the Six Harmonies Pagoda, standing high by the Qiantang River and to the south of the West Lake, it is a perfect symbol of brick-and-wood structure built in the ancient China. It was first built in 970 AD in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). The name "six harmonies" comes from the six Buddhist ordinances, meaning "harmonies of the heaven, earth, east, west, south and north".

Sightseeing: Lingyin Temple/ West Lake/ Red Carp Pond
Visit the Lingyin Temple (Temple of Inspired Seclusion), one of the ten most famous ancient Buddhist temples in China. It also houses various Buddhist literature and treasures. After the temple, visit the West Lake. Lying on the west edge of Hangzhou city, West Lake is the symbol of Hangzhou as well as one of the most beautiful sights in China. Here you will see the Red Carp Pond, located in Flower Harbor Park. Originally this was a private garden near Huajia (Flower) Hill, hence the name Flower Harbor. In the year 1699 Emperor Kang Xi of the Qing Dynasty visited West Lake and wrote "Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor," which was later inscribed on a stone stele standing near the pond.

Hangzhou - Suzhou by train
Sightseeing: Humble Administrator's Garden/ Garden of the Master of the Nets
Take a soft seat train to Suzhou and transfer to the hotel. Visit the Humble Administrator's Garden which is the best representative of Chinese classical gardens in the Ming dynasty. Focused on a central pond with pavilions, terraces, chambers, and towers located nearby, the garden is divided into three parts: the eastern, middle and western parts. Then transfer to the Master of the Nets.
Day 6 Sun 26-Jul-09 Meal(s) (B+L)
Suzhou – Wuxi by train
Sightseeing: Tiger Hill/ Wuxi/ Taihu Lake
Visit Tiger Hill, one of the most famous sights of Suzhou, entitled "the most famous place in Wuzhong", also named "Surging Sea Hill", or "Surging Sea Peak. Then take a soft seat train to Wuxi and transfer to the hotel. Visit Taihu Lake including Yuantouzhu Park and Li Garden.

Wuxi – Nanjing by train
Sightseeing: Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum/ Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum/ Confucius Temple
Take a soft seat train to Nanjing. Visit the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum and the Confucius Temple. The Dr. Sun Yixian (Sun Yat-sen) Mausoleum: In its time the building was designed to be more impressive than those of the emperors whom the father of the Chinese republic overthrew. Nowadays it is one of the most popular destinations. It is a memorial to remember and worship Confucius, the great thinker and educator of ancient China.
