Beibu Gulf Square
Situated in the center of Beihai City, Beibu Gulf Square characterizes the whole city: Modern but retaining some traditional features. It is composed of a unified pattern of space and shape with a prominent center, and with artificial work and nature well-blended. Having a vivid open and street-like quality, the square shows an avenue square feature of the subtropics. In addition, it serves as a public activity place for the city, by reserving and utilizing historical and traditional buildings and with local culture and folk customs.
A sculpture called the South Pearl Soul is a novel, unique and beautifully designed tower aloft on the green Beibu Gulf square reflecting the feature of the pearl city. Three joint white shells, 15 meters high, in which a stainless steel ball is set, open widely in three directions, resembling three pearl shells holding a big bright south sea pearl which is renowned at home and abroad. Under the shells are three graceful statues: pearl, goodness and sea.
