Folded Brocade Hill
Located north of Guilin city by the Li River, the Foloded Brocade Hill is one of the three most famous hills in Guilin. Its name is derived from its queer-looking rocks which are broken horizontally. The hackled rock formation with patterns that strongly suggest a great pile of folded colorful brocade has acquired the present name for the hill. The thin shape of the hill and lush greenery around make it resemble brocaded fabric. Halfway up a cave named Wind Cave running through the hill. The cave was calabash shaped, with two wider mouths and narrow passage which only allow one person to pass through each time. A cool breeze blows inside all year around which gave it's the name Wind Cave. Beside its ravishing scenery, it has many ancient relics, including the Buddhist pagodas built in the Tang Dynasty (618AD-907AD), inscriptions and Buddhist sculptures.
