Longji Terraced Field
Although China has 3.7 million square miles of land, only 11 percent of China’s land is arable. To compensate, the Chinese mountain villagers use extensive terracing to plant rice. Located in Longsheng County about 2 hours from Guilin,90 kms northwest to Guilin,Longji means "Dragon's Backbone", the rice terraces are built into the hillsides. Winding from the foot to the top of the hill, the terraces look like great chains or ribbons. The Terraces were first built in the Yuan dynasty and completed in the Qing dynasty by the Zhuang people.Rightnow on the top of the mountain,there are many motels for tourist choose to stay overnight to enjoy the sunrise and sunset and get the peaceful feeling of the country life.
