Nanning Travel Guide
Nanning is the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwest China. It borders Vietnam, is neighbor to Guangzhou, close to Hong Kong and Macau, and faces Southeast Asia. The China-ASEAN Expo has been held in Nannning annually.
Nanning is the center of the Zhuang culture, China’s largest minority at well over 15 million people. Their history and ethnic culture add charm to the city.
A pleasant climate endows Nanning with evergreen trees and fragrant flowers all year round, hence the name 'Green City.' This garden city has so much to offer its visitors, such as Mt. Qingxiu, Guangxi Ethnic Artifact Garden, and Guangxi Medical Botanical Garden. Its outskirts are clustered with attractions as well. These include the Yiling Cave of Wuming County, the Stone Forest, one of the world's eight major slanting pagodas in Chongzuo, the mysterious Huashan Murals in Ningming County, the waterfall that crosses the Sino-Vietnamese border in Daxin County, Friendship Pass at Pingxiang, as well as the exotic folklore on the Sino-Vietnamese borderline.

Zhongshan Road is the very place where you can enjoy the most genuine local snacks. This location is where you can find many traditional restaurants providing all kinds of Nanning local flavors with reasonable prices. It is also the night market of the city. Other food streets include Qixing Road, Gucheng Road, Jianzheng Road, Sixian Road, and Xinzhu Road.
By air
Nanning Wuxu International Airport (NNG) is located in Wuxu Town, about 31 kilometers (19 miles) southwest from the city. There are 26 scheduled airlines mostly to cities in southern and western China, including Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou, Xiamen, Kunming, Chengdu, Guiyang, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan as well as Beijing and Xian.
By train
As the meeting point of many inland railways, the station has trains directly to most large cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xian, Chengdu, Kunming and Zhangjiajie. Other railway lines extend to the cities of Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Jiangxi provinces as well as some provincial cities including Guilin, Beihai and Fangchenggang. Due to its special border location close to Vietnam, international railways are opened directly to Dongdang in Vietnam and there may be more in the future.

China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO)
Every November, the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and ASEAN Commerce Department, is held in Nanning. A trades exhibition, business cooperation, a commerce summit forum as well as other seminars provide a wide platform for merchants to communicate with others from all over the world.
Nanning International Folk Music& Art Festival
Every November, musicians and artists from home and abroad gather in Nanning, forming an art communication festival. During the festival many impressive activities are held, such as the National Ethnic Folk Music Competition, the Square Culture Presentation and the Southeast Asia Delicious Food Festival.
Nanning International Tourist Food Festival
Held in November annually, the Nanning International Tourist Food Festival is a great gathering of delicacies and snacks at home and abroad. It is a combination of sight-seeing, delicious food, entertainment and commercial fairs.
