Grape Valley
is situated in a canyon, on the west side of the Flaming Mountains and 15 kilometers northeast of the seat of Turpan. The Grape Valley runs 8km from north to south at a width of 0.5km. This green paradise of 400 hektares is covered with layer upon layer of grapes. In ancient times, grapes were introduced to the central plains from the Western Regions along the Silk Road. Turpan, once an important strategic place on the Silk Road, has had 2,000 years of history of grape cultivation. Every single grape is crystal and watery-some are as green as emerald; some as red as agate, some as small as pearls while others are like olives.
