Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
is located 32 kilometers from urban Zhangjiajie and 28 kilometers from Wulingyuan Scenic Area. It was also called Qingyan Mountain and was originally a state forestry center.
With its rare quartzite formations of hills and primitive hypo forests, the park became known to the public and was set up as the first national forest park in 1982. It was actually the earliest developed zone of Zhangjiajie City. Then in 2004 it was again listed among the world geologic parks. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has been described differently, such as, majestic, eccentric, tranquil, delicate and wild.
The park features grotesque peaks, lucid brooks, abundant fauna and floras and hospitable climate. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is endowed with many scenic spots, such as the Yellow Stone Stronghold (Huangshizhai), Yaozizhai, Yuanjiajie and the Golden Whip Stream.
